Baked Lemon Dessert I Ep. 50 I Cooking in the Community Kitchen

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup white sugar

  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour

  • 3 tbsp butter, melted

  • 1 tsp lemon zest

  • 1/4 cup lemon juice

  • 1 1/2 cup whole milk

  • 3 well-beaten egg yolks

  • 3 stiffly beaten egg whites

  • Salt to taste

Preparation

In a medium mixing bowl, combine, flour, sugar, pinch of salt. Stir well. 

Add melted butter, lemon zest and lemon juice. Mix well.

In a second bowl, beat egg yolks, then add milk. Stir this into the lemon mixture. 

Whip egg whites, until soft peaks form. Fold the stiff egg whites into the lemon mixture. 

Pour this mixture into a 8 x 8 x 2 pan or dish. Set pan into a large roaster pan. Create a water bath by adding HOT water around pan, about 1". 

Bake a 350 degrees for about 40 minutes. You will ENJOY BOTH, cake and pudding. Serve warm or chilled.
